Based on feedback from members, we are going to incorporate a guest speaker at the beginning of every happy hour event. We will provide current NAAAP Tucson members 10-15 minutes to share with our members more information about their companies, the services they provide or other topics of interest. If you would like to volunteer to be the speaker at our happy hours, please send us an email at info@naaaptucson.org and let us know your proposed topic. Thanks!

Our November NAAAP-Tucson event was a huge hit. We had a largest turnout yet for any activity and all seemed to be very happy that they attended. The comedy/personal development presentation by Brian Mulligan on What's So Funny about Being Asian American kept everyone laughing, while providing many enlightening insights into the Asian cultural values which affect us, often unknowingly. The venue, Central Bistro, was perfect for the meeting and provided great service and tasty food. We also got a bunch of new members and new volunteers. Thank you to everyone for attending this terrific event.

NAAAP-Tucson was honored to be invited to the scholarship award presentation of the UA Asian American Faculty, Staff and Alumni Association Scholarship and Student Recognition Banquet on Saturday October 14. It was a very successful event and we were happy to be included and have the opportunity to congratulate these outstanding students, as well as to make other connections within the local Asian-American community.

The NAAAP National Convention was held in Seattle. NAAAP-Tucson representatives included Chris Kovitz, Cheryl Biagini, and Brian McLaughlin. There were also several Tucson attendees who were part of the Raytheon contingent (as Cheryl was). At the convention, Cheryl was a panelist on the topic Let's Make Waves: Interactive Workshop. (Tucsonan Lily Sanford was another panelist.) Cheryl also introduced one of the speakers, Sanjeev Venkatesan, who gave a presentation on Visible Performance: How to Blend in Yet Stand Out, to an appreciative standing-room-only crowd. Brian moderated a panel on Telling the Asian American Story through Film, Television, and Theatre. Panelists included Yuji Okumoto (The Karate Kid, Part II) and Mimi Gan, award-winning film director and Emmy-winning KING 5 news journalist.
